Description

Known for its dual-cropping and high yielding. Chilcotin produces sweet, medium sized raspberries mid-season, with the main crop in mid- summer and a secondary crop in autumn.You can expect around four weeks of picking in summer (December) and bonus second smaller harvest in autumn (March).

A floricane variety that develops fruit on canes in their second year .Canes have fewer thorns than other varieties of raspberry.

Plant Raspberry Chilcotin to grow on a trellis. It needs this support for its tall canes. In winter, prune out the weak, damaged canes to make way for healthy new growth, leave around ten stems per plant is ideal.

Growing Guide Raspberries are a suckering plant that grow best in cooler climates and prefer a rich well drained soil in a position that does not have exposure to the hot afternoon sun. When planting space 50cm apart and create a mound of 10-15cm to assist with drainage, mulch and keep well watered during growing period, feed plants with a complete fertilizer as fruit is forming. It's best to supported with trellis or grown up against a wall, due to the height they can reach.
